A low-cost, high-efficiency, new generation material for fog harvesting fumed silica-doped polypropylene

Abstract This study describes the development of a fog collector material for harvesting. Polypropylene (PP) doped with fumed silica (0–2%) was punctured at equal intervals and exposed to produced by humidifier. The amount water harvested each sample measured using an ultrasonic fogger. 1% most effective harvesting water, collected almost 19–20 times more than pure polypropylene. improvement is due surface tension, which decreased from 16.754 mN/m (pure PP) 13.512 9.992 (0.5% silica, respectively). On other hand, when doping exceeded 1%, this increased polymer’s as 20.6 38.1 1.5 2% doping. We therefore propose silica-doped polypropylene low-cost method collecting clean in arid regions.
